HEDLA 2022
The 13th International Conference on High Energy Density Laboratory Astrophysics HEDLA 2022
will be held at the Lisbon Academy of Sciences in Lisbon (Portugal) on May 23 - 27, 2022. The most recent HEDLA meetings have been organized in Kurashiki, Okayama, Japan (HEDLA 2018 ) and at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory in Menlo Park, California, USA (HEDLA 2016 ).
The following scientific topics will be the main focus of the conference:
- Dense Plasmas (EOS, warm dense matter, planetary interiors,...)
- Fluid and Collisional Plasmas (jets, turbulence, dynamos, instabilities,...)
- Transport and Atomic Processes (heat conduction, anomalous resistivity, diffusion, radiative transport, opacity, line shapes, photoionization,...)
- Collisionless Plasmas and Particle Acceleration (shocks, magnetic reconnection,...)
- New Frontiers (QED, pair plasmas, nuclear astrophysics, new experimental facilities, computing,...)
Registration
The conference registration fee will be €500 for researchers and faculty and €250 for students (early birds €450 and €225, respectively). Payment will be accepted on-site, however advanced payment for registration is strongly encouraged and will save time on the first day of the conference. Registration and advanced payment of the respective fee can be done here.
The conference registration fee will cover the participation in both the conference dinner and the excursion. The conference dinner will be on Wednesday May 25th at the Geographical Society of Lisbon served by the Casa do Alentejo with traditional Portuguese food. The excursion will be a tour to Sintra, Cape Roca and Cascais, including entrances to the beautiful Quinta da Regaleira on Thursday afternoon.
Spouses are welcome to participate. Participation fees for spouses (50€ banquet and 42€ excursion) will be charged together with the registration fee.
Please note that the Local Organizing Committee will not call you to arrange your travel or accomodation. Any contact that you receive with this regard may be a scam attempt.
Prizes
The best talk and poster by Ph.D. students will receive a prize sponsored by Journal of Plasma Physics supplied by their publisher Cambridge University Press.
The best talk prize was awareded to Vicente Valenzuela-Villaseca from Imperial College and the best poster to Hannah Hasson from University of Rochester. Our congratulations!
