Due to the current uncertainty regarding the status of the Covid-19 pandemic and associated travel restrictions, we have decided to postpone HEDLA 2020 to May 2021. More info about this announcement will soon be sent over e-mail to registered participants and invited speakers.
Due to the containment efforts and the measures taken at IST and in Portugal related to the fast disseminating Covid-19 virus, we have decided to move HEDLA 2020 to September 14th - September 18th at the Lisbon Academy of Sciences.
We apologize for any inconvenience this move might have caused, but by adopting appropriate care each one of us can contribute to the limitation of the spread and to maintain our own health and the well-being of our colleagues, friends and relatives.
In case payments have already been made and you do not wish/cannot attend the meeting in September please do let us know. All submitted abstracts will still be considered - please let us know if you wish to withdraw or edit them. The deadline for abstract submission has also been postponed to June 26th.
The 13th International Conference on High Energy Density Laboratory Astrophysics
HEDLA 2020 will be held at the Lisbon Academy of Sciences in Lisbon (Portugal) on September 14th-18th, 2020. The most recent HEDLA meetings have been organized in Kurashiki, Okayama, Japan (HEDLA 2018 ) and at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory in Menlo Park, California, USA (HEDLA 2016 ).
The following scientific topics will be the main focus of the conference:
- Dense Plasmas (EOS, warm dense matter, planetary interiors,...)
- Fluid and Collisional Plasmas (jets, turbulence, dynamos, instabilities,...)
- Transport and Atomic Processes (heat conduction, anomalous resistivity, diffusion, radiative transport, opacity, line shapes, photoionization,...)
- Collisionless Plasmas and Particle Acceleration (shocks, magnetic reconnection,...)
- New Frontiers (QED, pair plasmas, nuclear astrophysics, new experimental facilities, computing,...)
The conference registration fee will be €500 for researchers and faculty and €250 for students (early birds €450 and €225, respectively). Payment will be accepted on-site, however advanced payment for registration is strongly encouraged and will save time on the first day of the conference.
